I designed the augmented reality segment of an award-winning exhibition showcasing the history of Mount Eden, located at the visitor centre in Auckland, New Zealand.

The vision - a physical mountain model with iPads to trigger a series of AR stories, progressing from volcanic eruption to Maori settlement and finally, present day.
Rough storyboards helped contextualise the experience within the space. Concurrently, I drafted the AR eruption sequence with the creative director, using geological references for accuracy.
Clear user flows ensured our AR narrative was logical and easy to navigate. Rapid wireframing, prototyping and testing then brought the journey to life and enabled conversations with developers.
The final UI was adapted from the project branding to suit a digital medium. Once the exhibition had launched at the visitor centre, we had the opportunity to observe the first users of the experience.
Observations from the launch allowed us to make small, impactful improvements to the UI accessibility, onboarding and usability. Ultimately we were extremely proud of the project's success, with great client and visitor feedback.
